My mother won't watch that show. She says it's too "dirty."

LOL

On that note, I think Fox should morph their show The Swan and the Golden Girls together.

would be a big hit, no?

OMG. All those ears meeting on the backs of their heads...

Actually I think it's a safe bet that Rue McClanahan has had quite a BIT of SWAN work done...

No, I'm dead serious. My mother won't watch "Golden Girls" because it's too dirty.

There is a bit of adult content and humor going on with the Golden Girls (Sandy watches it a fair amount).

Wow.

This time difference puts me out of the loop before I get to make any comments here. I guess I can be excused from dropping the issue since I'm just signing on. I'd like to add my

You know, I've been busy here these days and I had just started reading Race Reports yesterday. I was upset to see that elkid's report had gone "south" so to speak...and the focus was gone from what she really had done this past weekend. Yes, she did drink. Yes, she did not feel well during her race. However, there was something more being said to me in her report than 9 pints of beer. I guess I feel it went "south" because people started to question/criticise her lifestyle in that thread and not give much attention to the other things that took place. Why anyone's questioning and criticism could not have taken place through PM's is beyond me? I know that I can do it that way, why can't others?

Did you all know...really know what time elkid put into the Team Abby event? She has planned this for months. She has brought this to our attention, along with rtpd, for quite some time to make sure it's not put on the back burner. She raised a considerable amount of money to contribute to this great charity to help children with special needs benefit. She made it a point to personalize this for the Oaster clan with great t-shirts to sport and keep it motivating. This is all followed by traveling to race at the event all to show how much she cares and supports this cause. Did anyone else "step up to the plate" to do so? I know that I did not and I feel that what elkid did is to be admired. Why people couldn't read over some of the other "stuff"...

I see the point of moving comments from the RR thread to a new one here...to keep focus on the race over there. However, I see the need at times to restrain from taking unneccesary "hits" on people publically when possible. I feel the PM feature at this forum is a way to keep personal opinions about one's lifestyle personal...between you and that other person if you are going to say anything. Otherwise, can't there be something positive to be found in most things written? That race report did not scream out to me controversy.

Look at what it's caused... Confused

Good lord. I think the kid got her shorts all twisted up over nothing. I don't think anybody took a public "hit" at her at all.

I didn't see a "hit" either.

I would tell any of you that if you drank 9 pints, ate 9 pies, or only got 9 minutes of sleep the night before - that any of those things would have a negative impact on your race performance.

That isn't judging. That is the truth. It isn't a comment on people's lifestyle, it is a comment about the obvious.

And Ally Sheedy carried that movie on her back.

I guess what I mean by "hit" here was that the thread got way off topic and all we read about was about her drinking too much. I felt that the great things she did do for that race were overlooked. That's what I meant here.

this man speaketh the truth!!

truly, i read and reread the thread and fail to see where judgment is being passed on anyone's personal character. it's not there.

i, the token golden girl of the forum, started this entire S storm with my nine pints of bass comment....and believe me it was meant to be just that...a comment on a lifestyle.

maybe, as Sahara said, i'm longing for the days when i could drink 9 pints and live to tell. those days are gone with the wind. maybe, and even closer to the truth, i too believe that drinking even 2 pints the night before a race will have an adverse effect on one's performance. i believe this to be true. i do not believe it is passing judgment or casting a hit of any form towards elkid. i just don't think it's good running. neither is eating crap food or not sleeping or overrunning your mileage for a week or running with a stress fracture or running with the flu or running in worn out shoes or running with a sweatshirt on in the summer -- the list goes on.
