I'd say the gallon o' brew had an impact on your race.
There's the connection. |
Thank you Captain Obvious, even though you exaggerate. But it was a race, I ran it, for charity to boot. Sorry your myopic vision can't get past the night before the race. But how dare you, or anyone else for that matter, judge me for what I do? For someone who claims to be so steeply versed in Christianity, you contradict yourself. Reread Matthew 7:1, or its extension in Luke 6:37. You are not the man that Judges 11:27 discusses. |
Just curious, but between this thread and the race report, are they any deleted posts that were harshly judgemental? Because in this thread all i see is some friendly banter and the questioning comment that the pints could have affected the race. Maybe i'm just bringing my own viewpoint and expectations, but i don't see any aspersions being cast or any condemnation here. |

I'd think that anyone who notes the fact they downed 9 beers the night before a race is setting themselves up for some commentary about it.

I have no opinion on any of this. Elkid got cranked and ran a race. I read the other thread and there's some teasing but not a lot of dondemnation, from my view. Not sure what the fuss is about. But then, if I drank nine pints of anything I would be

Hmmm ... I recall when I said "you lay, you pay", tongue-in-cheek I might add, to coach when he was complaining about his being tired after having a fourth kid I got stomped on. Sounds like he set himself up for that fatigue, too, yet that fact was lost on everyone. Same situtation, different reaction. I love the double standard that is emerging around here.

I stood up the Mafia once by going to a bachelor party the day before the race.
Drama aside, I can't believe the kid even made the race.

But why is it more shocking than a bomb scare in a grocery store? I just...I'm CONFUSED.

Maybe because this is a running website? hell I don't know.
For the record, my 26:14 PR at the 4 mile distance came the day following a 17-18 beer drunkfest. I figured I was carb loading since there was no such thing as low-carb beer in those days.....

I didn't think it was but I didn't have any comment for that. I have had 9 pints of beer.
I wasn't able, however, to run the next day...Kid's system is pretty unbelievable!
Is this where I get to add some El DeBarge lyrics?

WOW, such contraversy still so ealy in the morning. I did notice the Bomb scare Kid and thought to myself about all the popped popcorn. also thought though that 911 has left a mark on us all. I did not post anything about that since it was not a race related topic.
Personally about the kid and her 9 pints, her buisness. if she wants to get hammered the night before a race that is her perroagative. she knew what she was doing to herself (well for the first few anyway. ) Personally i don't think it is our job to critisize her actions. maybe she really was upset by the bomb scare, maybe she was really frustrated from work, maybe she was have a really good time. WHATEVER the reason how did it affect anyone but her?
sorry for the headache ya got here kid.
oh my lord, i posted seriously

Is this bad boy finished? I'm not gonna pretend that I know exactly how this started? why this started? and why I smell so 'summery'...but I do know this, and it's something that some may not want to hear.
Moderators have been chosen to help out their forums. If that means, making harsh decisions to ban or move material, then that's to their discretion. If you have a problem with this, it belongs in PMs...and feel free to get PH or myself involved. I'd like to think we're pretty unbiased towards ALL the members here (except for pff. achey, bam, genie, rando and everyone else whom we generally dislike)
Most of us have been around for awhile to see 'hiccups' like this occur. It should be dealt with behind closed doors and people need to move on. There's nothing worse than seeing rehashed arguements every month.
If I wanted to see that, I'd rent that Golden Girls-a-Thon video...

My mother won't watch that show. She says it's too "dirty."

On that note, I think Fox should morph their show The Swan and the Golden Girls together.
would be a big hit, no?

OMG. All those ears meeting on the backs of their heads...
Actually I think it's a safe bet that Rue McClanahan has had quite a BIT of SWAN work done...
