I mean, are you really sure? There are lots of marathons and being out in DC right now seems like a really bad idea. You don't want us to sit and fret about you all weekend, do you??

He'll be OK. How many people live in the DC area? 7 million (just a guess)? The sniper shoots one person every two or three days. I say his odds of getting picked off are super slim.

True, but do you think that bus driver thought that when he got up to go to work today? I know the odds are remote, but the fact that there are odds at all is freaky.

Alan put it very well in his thread that life is full of risks. You just need to decide your risk level and go from there. Obviously he'd like not to be a victim but he's not going to live his life in fear.
Driving is pretty dangerous but I'm pretty sure that most of us do it every day.
