Posted: 12/05/03 - 13:40 Post subject: ALRIGHT ENOUGH PMs ALREADY! what have you learned THIS week
I learned:
- people really love & look forward to this thread, missed it during last week's holiday, and demanded it this week
- my ratio of Christmas gift for others-gift for me ratio is 1:6
- I get more excited about SNOW! FABULOUS SNOW! than a 7YO
- po-po's kids love me, and I love 'em right back
- my boss thinks I do a great job, even when I'm not actually doing it
Now. You. Go.

Thank you!
I learned:
-That it takes more than a day to get to Singapore (in my DH's case).
-That it's a pain not to be able to in contact with a cell phone or any contact at all with DH for the moment.
-That Singapore is 15 hours ahead of us timewise.
-That I've procrastinated too long with Xmas card pictures.
-That I can't wait to put my Xmas tree up!
-That I was so let down by the Baby Thread. I woke up all excited to read some good stuff and got nothing...nothing I say. I thought there would be more to it with PH. Anyone else think that?
-That I love Diet Cherry Coke!
-That I can stay happy until next year's Backyard Brawl with UF. Go 'Noles!

-It took 25 hours to get to Singapore to be exact! That's a lot of traveling.

I learned:
- When my son says "I'm bored" in a place that no one should be bored it means "I've taken in all I can right now and I need to decompress."
- I can stand for hours in the stairwell of the Franklin Institute and just watch the pendulum.
- I can be organized and on task for about a week. Then not again for a month.
- How I eat on a given day directly correlates to my body image.

I learned:
My first 3 chapters of my thesis were accepted. The nightmares of failing this semester are over, and I can now proceed to worry about botching the last semester and not graduating. (he even said I did excellent work, must have me confused)
Tapering is not fun/fun/not fun/fun....
That's about it. I'm tapering, I remember nothing...off in search of food.

I've learned:
- this is my truly first really hard semester.
- I hate math. Nothing new, just reinforced.
- MIL is in hospital, again cancer related.
- I've got to make amends with MIL. Now.
- Half the things I wanted to do when I got a house have not been done, and probably won't.
- I will be glad when 2003 is over. It's been a bad year (good in places, but overall the worst year of my adult life.)
- My New Year's resolutions gotta be good ones!!

I learned:
-- a few hours of kid therapy is absolutely priceless
-- while the city still sucks, it's tolerable when you're there with good friends
-- I'm finally learning what peace of mind is, and I kinda like being there!
-- sobriety isn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be
-- an email can still brighten my day
-- things really do work in mysterious ways
-- as much as I love school, I love it more when it's OVAH
-- some people you just can't do anything but feel sorry for

Two things.
1) When the wind blows and creates strong currents down here, you should stay out of the water if there is a lot of seaweed. The currents carry jellyfish and man-of war into the seaweed and anything else in the way and you’re much more likely to get stung. Thankfully, I did not learn this the hard way.
2) I knew this was a must in Ohio, but didn’t expect it here. Nevah, EVAH accept a drink unless it is made right in front of your face. I got a drink laced with something yesterday (I had one drink and passed out face down on the bed for about ten hours and got sick. A lot). Luckily, Larry guessed what had happened and watched me all night. I guess there are devious freaky people everywhere. I’m still not all 100% yet but am a lot better. Never go to Cheeca resort. I’d have expected better from them

I have learned:
-People are rarely what they seem. So called friends will completely mislead you.
-Everything is better when you've got someone waiting for you at the end of the day.
-While the setting just less than "3" on the toaster barely toasts my bagels, exactly "3" scorches them beyond recognition.
-Clerks is one of my favorite movies. (Had to be reminded.)
-So much more that I'll keep to myself.

I learned that...
... well, I realized that I think that I'm smarter than doctors
... that I'll give said doctor a second chance to prove herself but I really feel that she is indeed less bright than me (and crappy too)
... more people are willing to listen than I would have guessed
... I'm big enough that I can willingly (even gladly) do the right thing for my husband's BD even though I don't think he deserves it through his actions to me

Care to share? Is this the girl you were mentioning before (Lauren I think it was). I hope there's a new romance in the air here.

I have learned that playing in the snow with young kids rocks
Being sick sucks
Having all the kids sick sucks even more.
Elkid loves my kids and she has the bumps to prove it.
