Is the amount of cycling mileage I have logged in the last year. Yesterday, marked the first anniversary of the first two of the heart disease trifecta diagnosis, (07 March 2003, 1907 hours), the final diagnosis coming 10 March 2003.
As I posted about a month ago, this has been a very up and down year for me, mostly down, as the doctors and I are still playing medication roulette to try and figure out how best to treat me. I continue to do my best to go on with my life as normal as possible. Often times dealing with symptoms that change on a minute to minute basis
Every mile I ride, is a small victory for me. While I continue to battle the disease and deal with cyclical ups and downs it seems to want to throw at me, I continue to face it head on. The battle is far from over. I have miles to go before I sleep.

the miracle is that you didn't suddenly collapse and die, leaving everyone to wonder what happened. I'm sure it's not the life you want to live right now, but I for one am grateful that you are here to live it. I am amazed that you are still so active.
and despite what rolling rock said about you, I still think you're a nice guy

Keep these thoughts going Greg!
It all helps when you think positively.
Let's see you have more victories in your life's journey!

Big echo of Keltic. I remember you saying they were floored when they learned you'd run a marathon and lived to tell the tale.

It amazes me how much you've been through, and that it's been a year already. You really are an inspiration Greg.
Are you enjoying all that cycling?

I often times get caught caught up in the heart rate trap. I have a limit in my mind of what I want to do, and sometimes the heart has a mind of its own and won't cooperate with me no matter what I do. When I ride outside the HRM stays home, so I tend to relax a little, but living in a hilly area like I do (witness, rtpd, elkid?) I need to be careful. The biggest problem that I face, is feeling comfortable when I am riding and pushing a little harder. I do okay for the duration of the ride but I feel hella crappy later.
I remember when I first asked the cardiologist if I could resume riding. He said I was the first person, who asked if he could exercise, where most patients he is trying to get them to exercise at all

I had to re-read your post. I thought you were saying that you've already logged almost 1,000 miles this year.
Keep on pedaling! You're setting a fine example for your kids.

Knocking that down from four figures to three can only encourage you the more. Congrats, and continued success!

Wow. Powerful thoughts here.....you've amazed the doctors, and us, with your courage and determination to keep fighting, and fight on I know you will--for a long time to come. You're an inspiration to anyone struggling with a chronic illness, and, I am sure, to many who can never understand what it's like to live with one.
Rock on, Cappy....you're a hero in more ways than I have space here to name.
