Yet the name of the race implies that a bunch of people running could actually cure cancer. walk-a-thons, jump-a-thons, rock-a-thons, farm-aid, etc. all skip the part (in their hype) about raising money to support, cure, aid, that particular charity/cause. and "we" walk around talking like doing this activity is a direct action for the desired consequence.
so these doofuses with the race shirt on and at the front of the starting line......these aren't the real runners, right? were there any real runners?
please tell me an elite runner was back in the pack waiting to trample them all |

yes, and it's quite funny, but our responses seemed to say otherwise. and yet it is odd that we think running, or jumping, or walking or dancing, could actually cure something. so beyond that, just why are there so many people with the race shirt on at the front of the starting line?

You got me! After initially being humored by it, I am now deeply offended and upset...

Well, I nearly wet my pants, and then read it aloud to passerby.
And I DO research. You can laugh. It's ok. It's hysterical, actually.
