Time duration for my drive home from work. Normally it takes about 7 minutes. Freaking football games. I seriously hate them. If the infrastructure can't support that many people, you shouldn't be allowed to build a 91,600 capacity stadium. It's ridiculous. Had I waited for the roads to be cleared, it probably would have taken longer than 2 hours to get home. I remember last year I couldn't get home for several hours so I parked at the grocery store and walked the 2 miles home. Thankfully I've got mad directional skills and street knowledge so I could at least get home. Most of the streets leaving campus are turned into 1 ways and there's a heck of a lot of police blockages. I even called the LSU police department and asked them how to get home... they had no clue. Here's what I did... (normal route home in blue, my route home tonight in red)

Welcome to my work Mech. If there wasn't a single, solitary soul on the road it would be an 19 minute drive on the highway. I don't take that route in the afternoons and it takes me anywhere from 35-60 minutes with the traffic lights.
I just put on some good music and accept it now. I unwind more when I drive home from work now.
I feel for ya.

Have you considered bike commuting? Usually, if the roads are wide enough, you can zip past them on the right-hand side. and if the roads aren't wide enough, but you're brave/stupid, you can still pass them on the right.

It's a great idea except I think probably 75% of the people on the roads are drunk. I don't like those odds on a bike.

My commute is 43 miles mostly over 2 interstates... on a good day drivin 80-85MPH ofcourse it should be 45 mins. Most days the 2nd intersate is clogged and the detour adds 11 miles of back roads. It takes me 1 1/4 hours most time ... People here almost accept it as part of life... Hopefully in a couple of months I will move closer to wrk...

I say that's your problem for living so far away.
It's only about 6 miles to work for me.

But they're drunk and moving slowly, if at all. You, on the other hand, are sober, narrower and more maneuverable.

Denver was just ranked as number 7 in the highest congested traffic cities! We are not big enough to be in that kind of ranking! It sucks!

Sorry, I'm not going to give you a whole lot of sympathy. LSU posts its football game schedules months and even years in advance. Plan your routes from and to home accordingly.
