Until my second attempt at eating Irish Steel Cut Oatmeal.
The first time (a couple of months ago) I was
This time, I come prepared with an Alton Brown recipe....

I used to HAAAAAAAAAAAAATE oatmeal with a passion. Now, I make it with less water so it isn't slimey. Then I add some cinnamon and a pkt of Splenda. It's actually not bad.

his recipe calls for milk, buttermilk, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
I imagine that increases the liklihood of a successful second atempt.

the closer it is to an oatmeal cookie recipe, the better (says me)

That's probably true...but sounds like it would increase the calories and I usually eat oatmeal to fill me up to avoid the donuts and muffins!

I would guess the same thing...

Love oatmeal. LOVE it. My kids hate it. Won't touch the stuff.

Well, they were much better this time around. Not exactly what you might call a culinary delight, but they were serviceable, and that's much, much better than they were the last time I had them...
