My parents are having their 40th anniversary in June of this year. They're not really the 'cruise' type of people. Other suggestions?
PS - I live 1,200 mile away from them.

Then their friends can't come. Plus, I doubt my sister would go for dragging her family to ATL from KC.

What turns them on? Not a cruise, we've determined, but what else?

This is a toughie... hard to do something really big that far away... are you going to go to where they are? I need to know that for further thinking.

Do any of your siblings live close enough to plan a party? How about a trip to their favorite game show (my friend just took her grandma to "Price is Right" for her birthday)? A weekend of pampering at a spa? A creative photo album of precious memories of them and the family.
I don't know their religious convictions but maybe a trip to a Family Life Conference (the "Weekend to Remember" might be a good idea) or Billy Graham crusade (or cruise...they might enjoy that cruise).
Hope these ideas help. I LOVE planning things like this!

My only sister lives in KC (about 4-5 hrs. away)

My parents watch less broadcast television than I do.
| Quote: | | A weekend of pampering at a spa? | They live in a very small town. They'd have to travel quite a ways to get to a spa.

They're Lutheran (if that matters). That's a good suggestion though. I'll look in to that.

That's an idea, but we can only afford to travel to where they live once a year and I'm not sure if they'd rather have us there for their anniversary of Chirstmas.
