I had always thought that 200/400 runners and 400/800 runners usually ran equal 400 times. Now though, I'm convinced that sprinters run it faster and it is in fact much better to train w/ sprinters instead of distance. Last year, I was a 200/400 runner that ran a 54.8 and I consistenly ran 55.0 all year. My relay times were always at least a 54.5 and I even clocked one relay split at 53.9. This year, I'm a 400/800 runner. I've trained a LOT more this year, probably twice as much compared to last year. My 800 times and up have improved drastically, but I ran a 57 and 58 relay split. Although it's very early in the season and those times occured at a scrimmage, I feel I've gotten slower speed wise. I just don't feel as fast as last year. Do you guys think I'm just overreacting.
