One of the local garages has all their trucks on the road on New Year's eve, offering free tows. Just call 'em and they'll come get you - over 100 people used the service last year.
IIRC, one of their employees had a loved one killed by a drunk driver.

I was out in the early evening trying to drive home (5pm).
There was a SUv, fully engulfed in flames on the northbound side of the highway. Emergency vehicles were not there yet.
Then, as I turn on to my state route, I watched a deer run across the road, and either get hit or bounce into the side of a car coming toward me. Then the deer ran back the way it came, seemingly no worse off.
I drove home even more carefully and stayed there.
