I've got an opportunity to speak in front of 200 people for 2 minutes during a 'half-time' at a series of basketball games that our church sponsors.
I think it might be fub to do but I'm stuck for subject matter. The pastor said it's pretty open on what I can talk about but I think it should be something that has something to do with a) Christianity, b) sports and/or c) family. It doesn't have to cover all of the topics but it should cover at least one of them.
I need some help on getting some ideas together and I'm really stuck.
FWIW - A few of the people on my church know I run (and ride when it's warmer) because they see me out on the roads on the weekends. Is there a tie-in there?

This oughta be fub!
Why don't you do an object lesson--come dressed for a race maybe?--and explain how running/sports and having a successful Christian walk are alike.
There's lots of sites online that will give you ample Christian sports illustrations.
It's funny, the more we run, the more spiritual applications we have found. We have found several potential sermon illustrations in our runs together.
Parallel sports equipment to things necessary for a successful Christian walk.
Gatorade or gu=Christian Fellowship--sometimes necessary to continue
Training=reading scripture=readying for the race
good shoes=knowing scripture--keeps you from stumbling?

I think the hardest time you will have is fitting in enough to get a point acorss in only two minutes! That's pretty short. Well, good luck!

Philippians 3
13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
15All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
and the best one: 1 Corinthians 9
23I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
25Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Go in Peace

Maybe a chance to do some RRHO recruiting.
Perhaps you could talk about how running/cycling/exercise is good for the soul. I get a lot of thinking done while exercising, an opportunity to spend some much needed quality time with one's self.

I am sure that can be tied to Christianity...one would hope it would fall under the golden rule or some other Biblical reference.

How about Hebrews 12-1-2 about running toward the finish line. Finish what you start no matter what happens. Follow through, train hard and fight to the finish.
