On last nights episode what were they doing to that guy ( Henderson?) when they were trying to interrogate him? Was that some kind of truth syrum or something to inflict pain? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm guessing it was to cause pain.

The highlight was Jack shooting the guy's wife in the leg. (for those of you who didn't watch, on purpose).

It was most likely a drug to enduce almost death, a feeling like he is drowning, just enough air to sustain life but enough to cause a great deal of suffering. A lot of those type of drugs/treatment are more sensory because once senses are taken away people are more likely to lose control of their mind and begin talking just to "connect" with the world again.
