RR's post got my reflective side going....and I normally do this in my journal on New Year's Eve anyway, so here goes. Hope you'll share yours as well. I find this therapeutic, it gives you a good sense of perspective:

Highlights:

Got accepted to graduate school!!!!!!! (This is by far #1 highlight)
Riff Raff was born, as was the Posse! THANKS PH!!! pink love
Got to meet some real live Riff Raffers in Iowa, as well as my good friend Satfix, who lives there
Got to see old Kickster friends in Cincy & Myrtle Beach and at local races
PR's in all three races I ran (pre-injury)
Finally started working on my house after 2 years (painting and stuff)
Sold my road bike
Big overtime checks helping to pay off bills
Found out who really matters (this could be in both categories) and made some really great new friends

Lowlights:

Got benched with stress fractures and 6 weeks turned into 5 months (#1 lowlight)
Work really sucked as getting a new job turned into ridiculous stress filled hell since they wouldn't let me out of my old one
Learned some painful lessons about friendship (see above)
Learned some equally painful lessons about men/relationships
Once again watched my marathon dreams swirl down the toilet along with most of the running season, due to injuries

Going Forward:

I don't make "resolutions" per se, more like this is what I hope to do in 2003.....

Get my life more organized. Being in school and working and training is gonna be a LOT to juggle!
Reduce as much stress as possible, including dusting off people who are not healthy for me to be around
Not to let work make me crazy, it's only a paycheck!
Get my running back on track and hopefully train for a fall marathon
Stop letting what other people think influence my opinion of myself
Appreciate more the little things in life and the people that really matter

NEXT..........

No sense looking back to what has already happened, and can't change. Time to look ahead and have a great year. Mostly have fun doing what I am doing now, and keeping it fun.

Highlight? Well, Little Michael, of course!
Lowlight? There are a few in our basement.Wink Otherwise, I honestly cannot think of one that sticks out.
Going Forward? Keep running, increase my mileage, and lose another 25-30 lbs. Not a resolution, mind you. A goal.

Amazingly, this year has been easy on the lowlights. My lowlight was probably missing this year's marathon/half marathon in January due to injury while trying to train for it. That pretty much drove me through the year however. Another lowlight was contemplating a move 1200 miles from my family, but it really turned into a highlight (see below).
My highlights include training for and completing the MS 150, meeting my boyfriend, having the opportunity to completely evaluate my life, job and family here in houston and weigh it against a whole new life elsewhere and more importantly, deciding what I have here is much more important that what was available elswhere, also making some of the best friends I've had in many years.

2002 = thumbs up

Next year? lots of goals but mostly hopes for the continued health and happiness of my friends and family.

I think the lowlights were exceeded by the highlights...

1) Met and fell in love (gulp) and vice versa with the greatest guy ever
2) Moved out of that crackwhore neighborhood
3) had a few nice little mini-vacations

for 2003 - I don't make resolutions per se...I need to work on being a little more patient...

getting the entire house in order....

continuing to stay happy and healthy and enjoy all aspects of life and not get too fixated on one aspect or the other. It's all about balance.

I hope everyone here get what they want out of the new year!!

I'm sure there were highlight in 2002, but unfortunately the year is ending with lowlights - Jerry losing his job and now today we had to have our dog put to sleep. Sad What a sh*tty way to end the year.

See you at next year's 'thon in Philly! Maybe we could hook up for a long run sometime before then.

Sorry to hear about your dog. It's always tough to lose a pet. Especially for the kids.

We will, we will.....Kelly Drive is a haul for me and I really hate the city. I much prefer Forbidden Drive or Betzwood, but I'll rotate. Once this weekend is over we'll start the group runs again. Promise!!!

I don't know if I want to do Philly, for the same reasons. I may go to Canada or somewhere else, since this would be my first.

There is no sane reason for me to rehash 2002. Looking forward, I just hope to be the world's greatest mommy and wife and figure out, professionally, what I am going to do for the next 30 years or so.

Geez, CB, I'm very sorry to hear that. I am sure things will look up, soon... they seem to when times are rough, huh?

I never looked at it as a negative, or dwelling on the past, I look at it more as summarizing what went down, what I can learn from it (most important) and what goals to set going forward. Kinda like those "lessons learned" meetings we have at work after a major project is finished.
