Most drunks are fairly "limber", and do not have time to tense up before impact, they just kinda meld with the car. Asan embalmer, i get to see what happens when alcohol and gasoline mix. Not pretty.
I have driven drunk in the past. I have gotten away with it. I will never do it again. Period. End of story. Seriously.

I would think it is because most vehicles are pretty safe for frontal impact, yet very susceptible to side impacts. With the drunk, pretty much anything he hits, including the sides of other cars, will be frontal impact. Just one reason at least. |
I think it's also because the drunk person doesn't tense up. Their ability to react is impaired so they don't react until after everything has happened. A non-drunk person (I would think) would react, either by tensing or bracing. Just my 2 cents.
