Posted: 06/18/06 - 09:45 Post subject: 06/17/06 - Run for the Pies 5K - Jax Florida
Well last night's race was about what I expected. The weather felt decent while standing around. 80 degrees light breeze and the humidity felt lower than it had all week. I have run this race many times and I have always struggled due to the heat and humidity but I always come back and run it. I guess I am a glutton for punishment, plus the beer is always cold.
So the gun goes off and I just start off in the pack. They ended up altering the course from previous years due to some road construction but it wasn't a big deal. I missed the first mile marker since I was looking to make sure I didn't run into some construction cones. I hit the turn around in 11:06 and I felt okay. Then as we head back the wind disappears since it is now at my back. I am trying to keep some of my running buddies in sight. I find the mile 2 marker and I hit that at 15:33 and I thought I was doing okay.
Then I hit my normal wall at the 2/3 point of any race. My body starts to revolt and my legs stop turning over like they were earlier. I hit mile 3 in 23:08 and I end up cruising in to the finish in 23:53.
They haven't posted the results online yet so I don't know my place.
Have a Happy Fathers Day everyone.

Nope no pie.
Men have to break 20 minutes to get one and women have to break 24.
